Afghanistan to tour India for three-match T20I series in January | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Afghanistan men’s cricket team is set to tour India for a three-match T20I series in January, as confirmed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Tuesday.
The series is scheduled to commence on January 11 and will run until January 17.
The first of the three-match T20I series is scheduled for January 11, followed by the second and third matches on January 14 and 17 respectively.
“Afghanistan Cricket Board confirms that the Afghanistan National Cricket Team will tour India for a three-match T20I series in early January 2024,” said a statement from ACB.

Although Afghanistan and India have encountered each other in several Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and ICC events, this upcoming series represents the first instance of these nations participating in a multi-match white-ball series. The teams have previously faced off in five T20I matches, all of which were won by India.
Afghanistan’s recent visit to India for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 saw them secure the 6th position on the points table. During the tournament, they achieved notable victories against England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
